Jet Propulsion Laboratory / Caltech needs security employee in Pasadena

Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a division of the California Institute of Technology, is a lead research and development center of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The Laboratory has a wide-ranging charter for solar system exploration, Earth observation, astrophysical research, and technology development, and employs approximately 5,000 scientists, engineers, and support personnel. JPL also manages and operates NASA’s Deep Space Network, a worldwide system of antennas that communicate with spacecraft and conduct radar and radio astronomy studies. The Laboratory is located on a 176-acre site in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Pasadena, California.

Required Skills: Typically requires an AA or equivalent with a minimum of 3+ years’ directly related experience in industrial security or personnel badge operation. Must have a working knowledge of Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) and the Defense Security Service - Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) that includes collateral and special compartmented information (SCI) clearances. Requires a working knowledge of industry and/or government badge procedures. Must have an ability to prioritize work assignments. Must be detailed oriented and a self-starter and able to multi task. Must have a willingness to perform a variety of different tasks depending on operational needs. Must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude with excellent customer service skills and teamwork ability. Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor with all levels of the workforce including executive management, research, scientist and engineers, government/civil servants, contractors and foreign nationals. Must have flexibility to change work schedule from 9/80 to 5/40 or vice versa depending on operational needs. Strong MS Office computer skills including PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain a Top Secret SSBI/SCI security clearance

Desired Skills: Have a working knowledge of industrial security practices, National Industrial Security Program Operation Manual (NISPOM). Knowledgeable of a closed Special Compartmented Information (SCI) work environment. Ability to utilize multiple access control operating systems (Lenel/OnGuard/CBACS and MDI) and badge operating (ID Max) systems. Some familiarity with entrusted software. Knowledge of compartmented security policies, practices, procedures and regulations. The ability to brief and debrief program personnel, review and coordinate security plans, administrate both collateral and or SCI document control processes. Currently cleared Top Secret SSBI/SCI.

Will work in a in a fast paced Personnel Security Group operation. Will be responsible for performing operational and administrative program requirements for Personnel Security. Will provide security assistance to maintain appropriate government compliance and following security policies and procedures. Must adhere to strict badge procedures and applicable NASA directives. Will assist in the collateral security indoctrination and document control program. Will assist with the implementation and management of collateral document control. Will complete all tasks related to badge issuance for JPL employees and contractors/affiliates, as well as NASA civil servants and other qualifying individuals without the compromise of badge process integrity. May act as an agent of the NASA Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Certificates. Will exercise good judgment and use professional discretion in dealing with all levels of JPL employees and contractors/affiliates as well as NASA civil servants. Will perform ad-hoc duties and assist other Office of Protective Services Groups as required. Will work under general supervision and report to the Personnel Security Group Supervisor.
